Five New Artists Who Impressed Us In 2017



Making it big in this falling industry is difficult, especially when you don’t have any team to work with. 

We’ve seen capable up and coming artists who can make it big dissolve quickly over time due to this our dying industry. 

But these five new artists proved otherwise. Even though they are ‘babies’ in the industry they are able to achieve so much within the shortest possible time.

1. Ebony Reigns 

After being discovered in 2015 by Ruff of Ruff & Smooth fame, she has quickly taken over the stir, driving Ghana to the promise land. Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng known by her stage name Ebony, has achieved so much since 2015. Some of her popular songs are Sponsor, Kupe, Date Your Father, Maame Hw3, Poison of which she’s widely known with. Ebony Reigns is signed to Ruff Town Records alongside Brella.

2. Kuami Eugene

The Fadama boy, born Eugene Marfo was discovered by Lynx Entertainment after taking part in the reality show, MTN Hitmaker. The Angela crooner emerged as the winner in 2017 VGMA unsung category. The young artist is a great producer and songwriter. He wrote and produced songs to artists such as Becca and MzVee, his label mate. Some of his popular songs are Boom Boom Bang, Hiribaba, Ebeyeyie, and Angela. He is signed to Lynx Entertainment alongside Mzvee, Irene Logan and KiDi. 

3. KiDi

Born Dennis Nana Dwamena shot into fame after emerging as the winner of MTN Hitmaker Season 4. The 21 years old student of University of Ghana is signed onto Lynx entertainment alongside Kuami Eugene, MzVee, Irene Logan and many others. Some of his popular songs are Say You Love Me, Odo Remix Featuring Davido and Mayorkun. 

 4. King Promise 

Hey Sexy! Born Gregory Bortey Newman graduated from Central University with a degree in Business Administration. He is known for songs like Oh Yeah, Hey Sexy, Thank God, and Selfish. He won Best Discovery Video for Thank You featuring Fuse ODG. 

5. Kurl Songx 

Kurl Songx is known for his popular song Jennifer Lomotey featuring Africa’s greatest rapper Sarkodie. He shot into fame after winning MTN hitmaker in 2016. He also featured Ebony Reigns on his song, Feelings and Sarkodie on Whistle.
